Industry:  Digital still photography - consumer markets

Challenge:  Create focused marketing strategy to launch brands and commence sales

Technology: CMOS image sensors and support electronics

Solution: Created marketing strategy; introduced branded products and focused sales program

Results: Customer qualification and reporting program led to time efficient prospect-to-customer conversion, including one design win and one letter of intent within a four-week period


Project for $125 million international distribution business

Industry: Consumer Electronics

Challenge:  Rapid (10-month) analysis and adjustment of internal drivers and external focus to financially survive

Solution: Assembled team; created 100-day plan for critical goals; long-term goals for financial survival

Results: Sales revenue up 15%, profits up 134%, operating costs down 17%, obsolete inventory reduced 60%, and employee turnover down from 30% to 10%


Project for $330 million consumer packaged goods company

Industry: Consumer packaged goods - seafood products

Challenge:  Sizeable inventory of specialty seafood product was approaching its shelf-life limit and potential write-down

Solution: Designed and executed nationwide promotion campaign targeting an ethnic group national celebration day to spur one-time sales volume

Results: Sales increased 300% over the same prior year period, liquidating remaining inventory and creating out-of-stock situation


Project for $220mm pay-TV subscriber control systems business

Industry: Electronic imaging; desktop publishing

Challenge: Slow, bulky and expensive 3-pass film scanning

Technology: RGB LED illumination technique to replace high temperature, power consuming halogen lamp

Solution: Coolscan® family of industrial and consumer film scanners to reduce cost, increase speed, reduce desktop space requirements and expand market

Results: Division in top 5 market share leaders worldwide (now a $300mm business unit)


Project for pre-revenue start-up in emerging pay-TV industry segment

Industry: Wireless pay-TV distribution system

Challenge: Bandwidth (channel capacity) limitation of new, emerging wireless pay-TV market segment

Technology: Compressed bandwidth system adapted from parent company's DOD design

Solution: COMBAND System - Over-the-air pay TV delivery, doubling available bandwidth to compete with cable TV monopoly

Results: $8.9mm in contracts with industry leader (50% of annual plan); $10.3mm in new orders from account team


Project to launch new business for $250mm Consumer Photo Division of large Japanese optics company

Industry: Digital Imaging: consumer markets

Challenge: Rapid entry into price sensitive consumer digital camera market

Technology: High-resolution CMOS image sensor design

Solution: Consumer camera with 800k-pixel CMOS-based for price/performance leadership

Results: $21mm sales increase in first six (6) months, contributing to company's consistent #3 or #4 market share position worldwide


Project to organize and launch effective customer identification, qualification and service program for early stage start-up

Industry: Digital Photography: professional / prosumer markets
